20-degree temperature drop possible for Las Vegas by Monday
October 1, 2015 - 8:31 am
Las Vegas could see a drastic 20-plus-degree drop in temperatures by next week, according to the National Weather Service.
On Wednesday, the valley saw temperatures slightly above 100 degrees. By Monday, thermometers will peak in the high 70s, Weather service meteorologist John Salmen said Thursday morning.
It’s normal to see such dramatic changes during “transition seasons,” Salmen said.
An area of low pressure is introducing the cool-down and bringing windy conditions.
The forecast high for Thursday is 96 degrees, the low is 72.
Winds will be between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts reaching 35 mph, Salmen predicted.
There is a chance of rain to the north of the valley.
This weekend will see temperatures closer to seasonal averages, in the high 80s.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
