Woman dies after being struck by car

One woman is dead and four freeway lanes were closed after a double car accident Sunday morning on Interstate 15.

Nevada Highway Patrol received the first call at 3:41 a.m., Trooper Jeremie Elliott said. A Nissan Xterra and a Scion had been in an accident and the two drivers, both female, were standing on the shoulder of I-15 northbound at Charleston Boulevard exchanging information, when a Honda driving by struck the driver of the Scion.

Both drivers of the original accident were transported to University Medical Center, where the driver of the Scion was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m. The driver of the Xterra had non life-threatening hip injuries.

The Honda driver was uninjured.

Four left lanes were closed on I-15 northbound until about 8:30 a.m., according to the Regional Transportation Commission.
