Motorcyclist killed, woman critical after morning I-15 crash

A motorcyclist died in a crash on Interstate 15 southbound after Sahara Avenue early Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. a gold Saturn sedan struck a black Chevy Tahoe in the right lanes of I-15. The driver of the Tahoe lost crontrol and spun into the median where it was hit by a motorcycle with two passengers, Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Jeremie Elliot said.

The man driving the motorcycle died, and the motorcycle’s female passenger was transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries. The drivers of the two automobiles were not injured.

One citation was issued for failure to maintain lanes, highway patrol said.

I-15 traffic was diverted onto Sahara Avenue and the entrance to that part of the interstate was closed. The interstate reopened around 10:30 a.m.
