Motorcyclist dies in hospital after crash

A motorcycle crash in central Las Vegas sent one man to the hospital Saturday, where he later died.

The crash was just before noon at the intersection of East Desert Inn Road and Joe W. Brown Drive, said Las Vegas police Lt. Nichole Splinter.

The 26-year-old driver of the Kawasaki Ninja was speeding when struck a light pole on the sidewalk, police said.

He was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he died about 5 p.m.

This is the 72 fatal traffic accident that Las Vegas police have responded to in 2013.
