Man dead after crash at Sahara and Sloan

A driver is dead following a two-car crash in the east valley Friday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

Officers were called to the intersection of East Sahara Avenue and South Sloan shortly before 4 p.m., Metro Lt. Yaz Yatomi said.

A 19-year-old driver was driving on Sahara when the Nissan 350Z he was in was struck by a 2008 Toyota Prius that was turning from Sloan, police said. The Nissan continued into a light pole.

The man in the Nissan died after the impact and the driver of the Prius, Claudia Rincon, 29, reported the accident and remained at the scene.

Traffic officers closed the intersection for several hours while they investigated the crash. The accident remains under investigation, police said.

The identity of the man will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
