Las Vegas Monorail marking 10th anniversary Saturday

The Las Vegas Monorail is observing its 10th anniversary Saturday with a series of open-house events at each of the system’s seven stations.

Events at different stations include entertainment, games, discount coupons, a monorail poker run, food and drink samples and anniversary cake and refreshments.

Events will occur from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the seven stations — the SLS Las Vegas (formerly the Sahara), the Westgate Las Vegas (formerly the LVH) the Las Vegas Convention Center, Harrah’s and the Quad, the Flamingo, Bally’s and Paris, and the MGM Grand.

A brief presentation is planned at the Convention Center station at 4 p.m. Free parking will be available at the Convention Center’s Silver Lot.

The 3.9-mile elevated transit system first opened July 15, 2004.
