Coroner identifies woman who died in Sunday accident near speedway

The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the woman who died after her vehicle collided with a semitrailer Sunday afternoon on Interstate 15.

Rebecca Steeprow, 31, of Las Vegas, was southbound on I-15 near Cheyenne Avenue in a Volkswagen when she collided with the semitrailer pulling hay just before 3 p.m., according to Las Vegas police.

Steeprow was transported to University Medical Center, where she later died.

Investigators shut down the I-15 southbound lanes between the Las Vegas Beltway and Cheyenne Avenue for more than four hours. The closure affected fans who were leaving Sunday’s NASCAR race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, backing up traffic in the parking lot for hours.
