All lanes reopen on U.S. 95 at Tropicana after accident

All lanes have reopened on southbound U.S. Highway 95 near Tropicana Avenue Monday morning after a two-vehicle accident.

The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the accident a little after 5 a.m. where a Nissan Titan struck a Chevy pickup that was stopped on the right shoulder.

The driver of the Nissan drifted on to the right shoulder and struck the driver of the Chevy, who was changing a flat tire, according to Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Jeremie Elliott.

The Chevy caught fire due to the collision but was put out quickly, according to Elliott.

The Chevy driver was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, Elliott said. The driver of the Nissan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Officials continue to investigate the accident.
