4 injured in 5-vehicle accident in southwest Las Vegas

Four people were injured early Friday morning in a five-vehicle pileup in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Carlos Hank said alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, which occurred about 6:30 a.m. at Blue Diamond Road and Decatur Boulevard.

Four people were taken to University Medical Center. Initial reports indicated that one of them had life-threatening injuries, but Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer later said the injuries were not life-threatening.

One person was arrested on unknown charges in connection with the crash, Meltzer said.

Decatur was closed between Blue Diamond and Pebble roads while Metro officers investigated the crash, but it reopened just before 10 a.m.
