Pedestrian killed in crash with semi-truck in North Las Vegas

Updated November 6, 2024 - 4:26 pm

The North Las Vegas Police Department said a pedestrian was killed in a crash with a semi-truck Wednesday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred about 8:45 a.m. near East Cheyenne Avenue and North Pecos Road.

The female pedestrian, who was believed to be in her 40s, died at the scene, police said in a later news release.

The driver of the semi-truck remained on scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

A preliminary investigation said the woman was walking southbound on Pecos Road with a green light, crossing Cheyenne Avenue on the west side of the intersection. The woman dropped some of her belongings in front of the semi-truck. As she was picking up her belongings, a traffic light cycle occurred and the light for eastbound traffic on Cheyenne Avenue turned green. Moments later the pedestrian was struck by the semi-truck, police said.

The identification of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers of Nevada at 702-385-5555, or at crimestoppersofnv.com.
