Construction company leases space in North Las Vegas City Hall

Ames Construction will move into North Las Vegas City Hall next week as the company’s employees work on a nearby freeway improvement project.

Ames will occupy a 10,000-square-foot space on the third floor of City Hall under a $176,012 yearlong lease approved Wednesday night by the North Las Vegas City Council.

Part of Ames’ new office includes space previously rented by Faraday Future, which dropped plans earlier this year to build a $1 billion electric car manufacturing factory at Apex Industrial Park in North Las Vegas.

The Nevada Department of Transportation awarded a $57.8 million contract last month to Ames to widen a 5-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 93 from Interstate 15 to Apex Power Parkway in North Las Vegas.

Work is expected to start by March on the Garnet interchange and to be completed by the end of 2018.

Other tenants renting space inside North Las Vegas City Hall include Democratic Rep. Ruben Kihuen, who agreed in January to a $51,660 annual lease for a 2,300-square-foot office on the fifth floor of City Hall. Home Means Nevada, a state-affiliated nonprofit group that offers homeowner assistance, also rents space inside City Hall.
