Adobe home in Kiel Ranch State Park to get upgrades

Major upgrades are coming to a small adobe house that is believed to be one of Nevada’s oldest buildings.

The North Las Vegas City Council awarded Accelerated Construction Inc. a $114,480 contract to build and install doors, windows, trim, wall plaster, electrical fixtures, pathways and signs on the adobe house located within Kiel Ranch Historic Park.

The renovation, funded by a grant from the state Commission for Cultural Centers. is expected to be completed by the start of 2018.

The 7-acre park opened last year, marking the last remaining piece of a vast ranching empire established in the mid-1800s by Conrad Kiel.
