Police report 21 arrests during Hot August Nights in Reno

RENO — Police say 21 people were arrested during Reno’s annual Hot August Nights event, during which authorities reported rescuing a teenager from the Truckee River.

Most arrests were for minor charges. Police say three people were accused of drunken driving, three were held on warrants and eight people were arrested for possession of an open container of alcohol.

The teen fell in the river from a ledge near the Virginia Street Bridge on Sunday morning, during the Hot August Nights parade. He was taken to a hospital treatment of a possible head injury.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that he appeared intoxicated and was expected to face a resisting arrest charge.
