Nye County officers arrest man suspected of shooting at officers
The Nye County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a person suspected of shooting at police in a Pahrump neighborhood Thursday night.
Deputies were called to 3200 block of Kings Way, on the southwest side of town, where deputies were shot at for over an hour, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
“Every time an officer moved, rounds were shot in that direction, indicating that he was trying to shoot at our officers,” Capt. David Boruchowitz said. “What his intention was, we are not able to answer that.”
The sheriff’s office said at 7:45 p.m. that the shooting suspect was in custody without incident and that no one had been injured. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer, Boruchowitz said.
The sheriff’s office does not believe it is the suspect’s first time shooting at officers.
Boruchowitz described the suspect as an “older, white male” but did not give further details.
“Many thanks to Nevada Highway Patrol, Nevada Parole and Probation, the US Marshal’s Office for sending us resources,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. No deputies or officers shot at the man, the statement said.
