Man wounds partner, kills self in northwestern Arizona

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A man who was distraught over his severe heart condition shot and wounded his partner before shooting and killing himself in their Fort Mohave, Ariz., home on Tuesday, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arriving at the residence in the 2500 block of East Nez Perce Road shortly after 5:15 a.m. contacted Wayne Sander, 49, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. Sander was flown to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas where he was last reported in fair condition.

The name of the 59-year-old man who shot and killed himself was withheld pending notification of kin.
