Man killed when train hits truck near Elko

ELKO — A man died after his truck was struck by a train at a crossing about 15 miles east of Elko.

Elko County sheriff’s deputies said it appeared that the man’s truck became stuck on the tracks and he was trying to get off the tracks when the accident occurred Friday morning.

They told the Elko Daily Free Press it’s a reminder that motorists should abandon their vehicle if they become stuck in similar situations.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.
