Inmate dies in Northern Nevada Correction Center

An male inmate has died at the Northern Nevada Correction Center in Carson City, the Nevada Corrections Department said in a release.

Sherwood Jordan, 67, died about 5 a.m. Friday. Jordan was committed from Clark County on Aug. 18, 2004, and was serving life with the possibility of parole for lewdness with a minor and sexaul assualt with a victim under 16, according to the release.

The cause of death has not been released. According to the department, an autopsy is being scheduled, and Jordan’s next of kin has been notified.
