Clark County school bus in head-on collision in Moapa Valley

A dark blue minivan collided head-on with a Clark County School District bus in the Moapa Valley on Wednesday morning in an accident that authorities said may have been caused by distracted driving.

No children were on board the bus when the collision occurred around 8:50 a.m. on Route 169, near the intersection with Lyman Street, at 8:51 a.m., according to Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Travis Smaka.

The minivan driver was airlifted to University Medical Center with unknown injuries, Smaka said. The school bus driver was not transported to the hospital.

Initial indications from the scene suggested distracted driving by the minivan driver, as the van drifted across the center line and entered the pathway of the school bus, he said.
