Car crash in Lake Mead National Recreation Area kills 1

A man died after two cars collided head on Monday in Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

The National Park Service and the Henderson Fire Department responded to the crash near mile marker 2 on Northshore Road, southwest of the intersection at Lake Mead Boulevard, around 10:15 a.m.

Two others besides the man who died flown to area hospitals, according to Park Services spokeswoman Christie Vanover.

Northshore Road between Lakeshore Road and Lake Mead Boulevard was closed most of the afternoon and reopened after 4 p.m.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will release the man’s identity and cause of death once next of kin has been notified.

Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating.
