BLM offers $10k reward in Northern Nevada wild horse shooting

The Bureau of Land Management is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for shooting and killing a wild horse in October at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center near Carson City.

The BLM partners with Nevada Department of Corrections to board and care for about 1,500 wild horses at the prison farm. Inmates train and gentle the animals before they are adopted. About 60 wild horses and burros are trained and adopted at the facility each year, according to a BLM news release.

Individuals with information about the incident should call the BLM crime hotline phone number at: 1-800-521-6501
