Barbed wire latest target of Washoe thieves

RENO — Washoe County sheriff’s deputies are looking for the thieves who made off with thousands of dollars’ worth of barbed-wire fencing surrounding private property in the Virginia Foothills southeast of Reno.

Bob Harmon, spokesman for the county in Northern Nevada, said sometime over the past week, someone cut large amount of barbed-wire surrounding 80 acres of property on Marango Road. He said a number of posts also were damaged.

Detectives estimate total damage to be in the range of $30,000.
