Woman in critical condition after hit-and-run accident

A woman was in critical condition Monday after she was struck in a hit-and-run accident near the Stratosphere.

Las Vegas police said Ellen Jones, 50, was crossing Las Vegas Boulevard near St. Louis and Baltimore avenues about 3 a.m. when she was struck by an unknown vehicle.

The driver fled without stopping, police said. Police have described the vehicle as either a dark gray Hyundai or a four-door Mazda sedan.

Jones was taken to University Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.
