Woman dies after multiple vehicle crash

A 60-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision near Craig Road and Ferrell Street that occurred after the woman’s car rolled from a stop sign into oncoming traffic, North Las Vegas police said.

Authorities did not release the identity of the woman. Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said the collision occurred shortly after 4 p.m.

The woman was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier stopped at a stop sign on Ferrell. Her teenage son was in the car with her. Coon said while at the stop sign, the woman and her son decided to trade places so the son could drive. The car, still in gear, rolled into eastbound traffic on Craig, Coon said.

A 2006 Ford sedan hit the Cavalier, throwing the woman from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the two cars collided, a Chevrolet Impala, struck some debris from the collision between the Cavalier and the Ford.

Police closed Craig Road in both directions from Simmons Street to Allen Lane.
