Water leak still clogs Desert Inn-Maryland Parkway intersection

Travel lanes on the Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway intersection were limited to one lane each way throughout the day Thursday while crews replace a leaking water valve, the Las Vegas Valley Water District said Thursday.

The lanes were originally expected to reopen between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., with water service in that area returning about the same time, water district spokesman Damon Hodge said.

At 5:30 p.m., the water district said service had been partially restored but lanes were still being restricted. The closure was to last until after rush hour.

As of 8:30 p.m. there was no indication that the roads had reopened.

Crews were trying to replace a leaking valve, but had to wait until the water drained before installing the new equipment, Hodge said. They were digging at the intersection.
