Three arrested, $2 million in pot seized at southwest valley homes

A task force arrested three people and seized nearly $2 million in marijuana after serving search warrants Thursday at two southwest valley homes, Las Vegas police said Friday.

Arrested were Erick Gurule, 38, Daren Obrien, 47 and Darci Obrien-Gurule, 43.

Police said detectives executed the first warrant at 4 p.m. at a home in the 3700 block of Casellina Court, near Valley View Boulevard and Cactus Avenue, west of Interstate 15.

Officers seized 663 plants and estimated its street value at $1.8 million. Police said the “entire house had been converted into a hydroponic grow operation.”

A second search warrant was then served at a home in the 9100 block of Sunken Meadow Avenue, near State route 167 and El Capitan Way. At that home, five firearms were recovered along with 0.2 grams of marijuana.

The task force that conducted the searches was SCORE, or the Southern Nevada Cannabis Operation and Regional Enforcement. The task force is comprised of officers with Las Vegas police, Henderson police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
