The Southern Highlands Boys & Girls Club will open to the public Monday .
An open house will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Applications to join will be available.
The 24,000-square-foot facility, at 10900 Southern Highlands Parkway, features state-of-the-art services for children, said Shelley Caiazzo, executive director of the Southern Highlands Charitable Foundation, which funded the project.
The club offers a gymnasium with six basketball hoops, art and game rooms, a teen center with flat-screen televisions, a computer lab, full kitchen and patio.
“When we decided to build a Boys & Girls Club, we wanted to create a place where kids could further develop their educational skills while still having fun,” Caiazzo said.
The Southern Highlands Charitable Foundation raised about $6 million to build the center. Olympia Companies donated the $2 million parcel of land.
Gov. Brian Sandoval and the foundation will conduct a private ribbon-cutting ceremony from 6:30 to
8 p.m. today .
