Police seek truck driver in death of motorcyclist

A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Charleston Boulevard near Broadalbin Drive in the northeast valley early Saturday.

Witnesses told Las Vegas police that the motorcyclist was traveling west on Charleston in the outside lane just before 12:30 a.m. when a dark-colored pickup truck that was driving in the inside lane suddenly changed lanes, causing the motorcyclist to lose control.

The motorcycle straddled the sidewalk, then fell over and hit a light pole.

The rider, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, was thrown into the traffic lane.

Police said both the pickup and the motorcycle, a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600, were traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident.

It is unclear if the two vehicles made contact.

The driver of the pickup truck did not stop, and is being sought by police, who ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Accident Investigation Section’s Detective P. Rooney at 702-828-8189.

Anonymous tips are also taken by Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 and
