Police arrest woman in connection with stabbing

A 32-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday in connection with a stabbing that left a woman critically injured in a downtown apartment complex, Clark County Detention Center logs show.

Corey J. Taylor, 32, was arrested and booked into the detention center at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, logs show.

Las Vegas police were already in the area of an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Sunrise Avenue, near Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue, about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday when they heard a woman’s screams coming from the street, Metropolitan Police Department Capt. Andy Walsh said Tuesday evening.

Officers were planting flowers in the courtyard of an apartment complex about 20 feet from where the stabbing happened, Walsh said.

They found a woman with a knife wound to the chest. She was taken to University Medical Center with critical wounds, Metro said.

Taylor, who was taken into custody at the scene of the stabbing, faces one charge of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, detention center logs show. She is being held without bail.

Walsh said Tuesday night that a male was arrested in the stabbing.
