A woman killed after being hit by a Clark County vehicle Tuesday has been identified.

The victim was Penny Schiestel, 73, of Henderson, according to the Clark County coroner’s office. She died of multiple injuries and her death was ruled an accident.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded about 11 a.m. to reports of a woman down in the road just south of the intersection of Eastern Avenue and East Warm Springs Road. The woman, originally reported as 65, was “awake and breathing” when officers arrived, Lt. Jacinto Rivera said.

She was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with what initially appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, but died about 1 p.m., police said.

Neither impairment nor speed were factors in the crash. It is unknown if she was in a marked crosswalk.

Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said in a statement Tuesday that the driver and the county are cooperating with police during the investigation.

“Our deepest condolences are with the family of the woman who passed away,” he said.
