Pedestrian killed on Las Vegas Boulevard

A 49-year-old man who was walking outside of a marked crosswalk died after being hit by a vehicle Thursday morning, Las Vegas police said.
The identity of the man was not released by authorities.
The fatality occurred about
9:52 a.m. near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Stewart Avenue.
Police said Barbara Beardsley, 69, of Las Vegas was driving a 1997 Chevrolet 1500 pickup northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard about 9:52 a.m. Meanwhile, the pedestrian was crossing from the east curb of Las Vegas Boulevard toward the west curb north of Stewart when he entered the roadway and was struck by the pickup.
He was pronounced dead at the University Medical Center. The incident marks the fifth traffic fatality of the year under the jurisdiction of Las Vegas police.
