Pedestrian killed in weekend accident identified

The man who was hit and killed overnight Saturday while crossing Boulder Highway was identified Thursday by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Richard Eubanks, 62, was crossing Boulder Highway, north of Sunset Road, when he was struck by a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta about 12 a.m. Sunday, according to Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards.

Eubanks was in the left travel lane and was not in a crosswalk when he was hit, Richards said.

The 19-year-old driver of the Jetta was not injured, and alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash, Richards said.

Eubanks’ death was ruled an accident by the coroner’s office. It was the first traffic-related fatality in Henderson’s jurisdiction this year, Richards said.

The coroner’s office did not have a city of residence listed for Eubanks.
