Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck Monday

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Monday night.

Las Vegas police said Victoria Soca Olar, 55, of Las Vegas, was crossing Nellis Boulevard just south of Charleston Boulevard outside of a crosswalk about 7:15 p.m. when she was struck by a 2002 Chevy Impala driven by Brandy Lowery, 34.

The front of the Impala struck Olar, throwing her to the ground.

Olar was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with critical injuries. Lowery, 34, was not injured.

The collision is under investigation. Lowery is not suspected of being under the influence.
