A woman died after she was hit by a car early Sunday in the southern Las Vegas Valley.

Just after 4:40 a.m., a 1997 Acura Integra was going south on Las Vegas Boulevard South, approaching a green light at Silverado Ranch Boulevard, according to a Metropolitan Police Department news release.

An 81-year-old pedestrian at the intersection tried to cross Las Vegas Boulevard when the Acura hit her, according to police. The woman died at the scene, police said.
