Arts district towing draws ire of festival patrons

First Friday is supposed to be a night to celebrate culture in the downtown arts district, but it turned into a $305 headache and a near riot for 100 drivers when their cars were towed off two vacant lots they have used before.

Bonneville Avenue is now operating as a one-way eastbound street between First Street and Las Vegas Boulevard, the city of Las Vegas said.

Compost better than rock dust as desert soil supplement

Rock dust is used in organic agriculture to replenish minerals that have been removed from the soils when growing and removing vegetables and fruit. I tend to favor the addition of compost to our vegetable gardens since our soils are so low in organic matter and its derivatives.

Helldorado parade, rodeo links Las Vegas to its past

Las Vegas plans to celebrate its western heritage this week during the annual Helldorado festival. Proceeds from Helldorado will be donated to several local charities.
