Keep gardens out of full western sun

Question: I have planter boxes that get hours of direct sun. I’ve tried everything from corn to edamame, grapes, peppers, tomatillo and many others. I have even put up shading, but either there is too much sun or maybe I overwater. I’d like to start now and get a jump on summer.

Summerlin Half Marathon to benefit Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

This year, the Summerlin Half Marathon will benefit the Southern Nevada 0ffice of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. To help people train for the 13.1-mile event, Summerlin Half Marathon is hosting the Team In Training program.

Declared dead once, man faces death penalty in killing of Las Vegas girl

A federal judge in Louisiana has scheduled a hearing Feb. 19 on motions to dismiss the indictment against a man who was declared dead in Mississippi in 1994, but surfaced in 2010 as a suspect in the deaths of his Las Vegas girlfriend and her daughter.

Would a downtown arena serve tourists or locals? Depends on who you ask

In pitching a $390 million publicly subsidized arena to the Las Vegas City Council last week, developer David Cordish sold it as a venue mostly for locals as well as a shot-in-the-arm for downtown redevelopment. If Cordish’s description is accurate, his project would be incompatible with the city’s plan to pay for it.
