One woman dies in early morning fire

A woman was found dead after an apartment fire early Monday morning at 8350 W. Desert Inn Road, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded about 2:30 a.m. to a call of heavy smoke from a balcony at the Monaco Park Apartments. A fire was discovered in the living room of a ground-floor apartment. Crews extinguished the fire within 10 minutes.

A middle-aged woman was discovered dead at the scene. Her identity and cause of death has not yet been released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damages are estimated at $10,000.
