One juvenile dead in Decatur shooting

A juvenile died in a shooting that closed a southwest valley intersection Sunday night, Las Vegas police said.

The call came in around 7:30 p.m. at Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.

Two cars were driving near the intersection when shots were fired, police said. Metro Lt. Craig Klatt said they think the vehicle was targeted, though not necessarily the driver of the car. Multiple people were in each vehicle.

Police found a shot juvenile laying in a driveway on Stampa Avenue less than a mile away. He was taken to University Medical Center, and Klatt said he died.

Homicide detectives were investigating and the intersection was completely shut down to traffic as of 9:30 p.m. Metro had not yet found the shooter.
