Northbound I-15 reopens after concrete spill

Traffic on southbound Interstate 15, near Sahara Avenue, is reopened after spilled concrete closed three lanes of traffic for about two hours, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

A mixing truck spilled concrete about 12:50 p.m. in the right lane of traffic on southbound I-15, closing the right three lanes of traffic beginning where the Sahara on-ramp meets the freeway, NHP trooper Loy Hixson said.

Two street sweepers from the Nevada Department of Transportation had the roadway cleared and lanes reopened by 2:40 p.m.

Hixson said it wasn’t clear how the spill happened, but there was no collision. In similar instances, Hixson said, driver error and mechanism malfunctions have caused the trucks to release the concrete while mixing.
