North Las Vegas shooting death in January ruled accidental

The Clark County coroner’s office has ruled the Jan. 30 shooting death of Denise Gray, 40, an accident.

Police received a call at about 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 30 about a woman screaming for help in the northeast valley. Officers found Gray lying in the doorway of a home at 3867 Terrazzo Ave., near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and East Cheyenne Avenue.

Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department said she was shot just inside the doorway. She died at University Medical Center.

The department said on Jan. 30 that detectives were unable to determine a motive for the shooting, then labeled as the 11th homicide of the year in Metro’s jurisdiction.

Gray’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the left thigh, according to the coroner’s office.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal contacted Metro for a case update, but additional details were not immediately released Thursday afternoon.
