Nevada history museum to reopen at Spring Preserve

The Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas is reopening at an existing tourist attraction.

Museum officials announced Monday that the museum will reopen Oct. 28 at the Springs Preserve.

The new museum space will be twice as large as the museum’s current home. It will display the first dinosaur fossils documented in Nevada, minerals from Nevada mines and Las Vegas showgirl costumes.

The Springs Preserve is owned by the Las Vegas Valley Water District. It promotes water conservation.

The new museum space was completed in 2009, but its opening was delayed until this year, when lawmakers approved funding to complete the exhibits and hire staff.
