Motorcyclist killed, 2 others hurt in northwest Las Vegas crash

Updated November 14, 2024 - 7:43 am

A crash in the northwest Las Vegas Valley left one dead and others injured Wednesday night, police said.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Cody Fulwiler said in a briefing to reporters that officers were investigating a fatal collision around 5:45 p.m. near North Rainbow Boulevard and West Cheyenne Avenue. Three vehicles — a motorcycle and two cars — were involved.

When police responded to the scene, they learned that the motorcycle driver, a 24-year-old male from Las Vegas, and his passenger, a 31-year-old female from Las Vegas, had been ejected after colliding with a car. The driver of the Suzuki motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene, while the passenger was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, Fulwiler said.

Impairment was not believed to be a factor in the crash. In a later statement, police said the motorcycle was traveling “at a high rate of speed.”

The driver of the Toyota Corolla remained on the scene and also had minor injuries, Fulwiler said. Due to the collision’s impact, debris hit another car’s undercarriage.

“This is a reminder during the holiday season to reduce your speed and pay attention,” said Fulwiler. “This is another life that will not be at the dinner table this year.”
