Motorcycle officer listed in fair condition after hitting SUV

A Las Vegas police officer who was injured after his on-duty motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle Sunday was listed in fair condition at University Medical Center Tuesday.

Police identified the injured officer as Richard Rundell. He was hired by the department in June 2005.

Police said the collision occurred near Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard. The officer was involved in traffic enforcement when he struck the front driver’s side of a Chevrolet Suburban.

The investigation into the crash was being handled by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fatal Detail, which is routine when an officer is involved in a collision while on duty.
