Metro ends southwest valley barricade

A man involved in a Tuesday afternoon barricade was taken into custody more than fours hours after police responded to the southwest valley home.

Las Vegas police responded at 2:32 p.m. to what was initially a domestic disturbance call at 9267 Angel Forest Ave., near Blue Diamond Road and Quarterhorse Lane, east of South Fort Apache Road, according to Lt. Mark Reddon.

A 32-year-old man had apparently committed a “minor battery” against his 70-year-old father when police were called, Reddon said. When officers arrived at the home, the father came out of the house.

The son stayed inside, found a knife and told police he was going to kill himself, Reddon said.

SWAT officers responded at 4:08 p.m. and were able to coax the man out of the house and was taken into custody at 6:51 p.m.

Reddon said side streets in the general area of the home were closed until the barricade ended.
