July 28, 2011 - 1:00 am
A memorial service to honor victims of Friday’s massacre is scheduled for 7 tonight at Christ Lutheran Church, 1111 N. Torrey Pines Drive.
The service will include a book where locals can sign condolence messages. It will be sent to Norway. Locals also may place flowers and other mementos outside the church, starting at 6 p.m.
The service will be primarily in English, but will include some Norwegian elements, according to its organizer, Vegas Viking Lodge.
“We felt it was important to come together as a community to remember the victims and to reflect on what happened,” Erik Pappa, the group’s president, said in a statement.
Based on 2000 Census numbers and population growth projections, Clark County is likely the home to up to 80,000 people who claim Scandanavian heritage.
