A man who fell several stories to his death at the Hard Rock Hotel on Monday night was identified Wednesday by the Clark County coroner’s office as 38-year-old James Leslie Herman from Eagle, Colo.
Herman died in an accidental fall from a height, the coroner’s office said.
Las Vegas police spokesman Marcus Martin said investigators initially thought the fall was a suicide. However, detectives later learned that Herman climbed on a railing and lost his balance. Martin said Herman fell nine stories.
According to the coroner’s office, Herman was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center about 7:35 p.m.
A newspaper article in Colorado’s Vail Daily said Herman had been a resident in the community for 15 years and worked as a managing director of a restaurant. The article said he was vacationing in Las Vegas.
