Man killed in southwest Las Vegas e-scooter crash identified

Updated March 25, 2025 - 5:30 pm

The identity of a man who was killed when his e-scooter collided with a car in the southwest Las Vegas Valley was released by the Clark County coroner’s office Tuesday.

Christopher Soto, 22, and a 14-year-old boy, both of Las Vegas, each drove what police described as stand-up style e-scooters southbound into the intersection of West Warm Springs Road and South Torrey Pines Drive just after 3:10 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department that didn’t identify Soto by name.

At the same time, an eastbound Toyota Corolla driven by a 28-year-old Las Vegas man entered the intersection, police said.

Both scooters collided with the car, Metro said. Both scooter drivers were taken to University Medical Center.

Soto died, according to the coroner’s office and police.

The boy, whose identity has not been released, suffered critical injuries, police said. Metro did not respond Tuesday when asked for an update regarding the boy’s condition.

Police said they did not suspect the Toyota driver, who stayed on the scene after the crash, of being impaired.

The death is Metro’s 39th traffic-related fatality in 2025, police said.
