Man dies in shooting at apartment complex in central valley

A man was killed in a shooting at an apartment complex Wednesday night, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the deceased man was not released.

Lt. Barbara Schmidt said the shooting occurred at 6:39 p.m. at the Parkview Pointe Apartments, 3665 Cambridge Street, near Twain Avenue. Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts said the man was found dead in a doorway. He was believed to be in his 20s. Witnesses heard five to six gunshots, but as of late Wednesday, investigators were unable to track down any witnesses.

The circumstances of the shooting were very similar to one that occurred earlier in the afternoon, in which an unidentified man was also found dead in a doorway of an apartment at a southeast valley complex.

The locations of the shootings were about 3 miles apart from each other.

Roberts said the shootings appeared to be unrelated.

Anyone with information pertaining to Wednesday night’s shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555; or the Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Section at 828-3521.
