Las Vegas morning update for Thursday, September 7th — VIDEO

Here are your Thursday morning headlines:

1. A jury awarded a Las Vegas man nearly $2 million after a country club snack landed him in the hospital. Ronald Wood was attending a member-guest tournament at Canyon Gate Country Club in 2014 when he ate a few bacon wrapped scallops. Wood went to the hospital with severe abdominal pain and doctors found his large intestine had ruptured from an inch-long broken toothpick. Wood was awarded $1.95 million in damages.

2. N9NE Steakhouse and rooftop Ghostbar nightclub at the Palms have closed their doors. Rumors of closures were abound after Station Casinos acquired Palms, but the restaurants closed suddenly with no notice. N9NE Steakhouse and Ghostbar have been at the Palms since its opening in 2001.

3. Las Vegas police say race did not play a role when detaining Seahawk’s defensive lineman Michael Bennett following the Mayweather-McGregor fight. Bennett posted on Twitter Wednesday that LVMPD used excessive force against him because he was a black man and that he’s exploring filing a civil lawsuit against the police. Police say Bennett has yet to file a formal complaint and that they are conducting an internal investigation.
