Illness delays trial of officer in vehicular manslaughter case

The trial for a former Las Vegas police officer facing charges related to a May 2010 police pursuit that left one person dead and another injured was delayed after the prosecutor in the case suffered a medical episode Thursday.

Paramedics were called to treat prosecutor Lawrence O’Neale after he appeared pale and had high blood pressure, sources said.

District Judge Elissa Cadish then ordered the trial continued to Monday.

Aron Carpenter faces one count each of felony reckless driving and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for his role in the pursuit that ended with the death of Ivan Carrillo, 26.

The trial was in its second day.
