House fire in Henderson causes $150,000 damage

Five residents and their family pets were displaced by a fire that quickly spread from the attic and destroyed their Henderson home Friday.

Henderson Fire Department personnel responded just before 1:30 p.m. at the single-story home near Greenway Road and Heather Drive, according to a department statement. Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames from the bedroom window and roof. It took 25 minutes to extinguish the fire and required a defensive approach from outside the building.

Fire officials estimated the damage at $150,000. No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries, but one of the three pets is missing.

Fire officials called the incident accidental, and the cause remains under investigation.
